Teen ADHD Course
Practical, Provider-Guided Skills for Everyday Life
Teen ADHD affects much more than attention. It can influence organization, time management, motivation, emotions, relationships, school performance, and the ability to complete everyday responsibilities.
The LifeSync Health Teen ADHD Course will combine provider guidance with age-appropriate educational materials, practical exercises, and resources teens can access online between appointments. The course will help teens better understand how their ADHD brain works and develop strategies that fit their individual needs and daily lives.
The goal will not be perfection. It will be progress—one stone at a time.
About the Teen ADHD Course
Knowing what to do does not always make it easier to do it. Teens with ADHD may understand what is expected but struggle with getting started, staying focused, estimating time, remembering assignments, shifting between activities, or following tasks through to completion.
The Teen ADHD Course will move beyond advice such as “try harder,” “pay attention,” or “be more organized.” Instead, it will help teens recognize their individual ADHD patterns and practice realistic strategies that work with their brains rather than against them.
Course resources will be accessed online and completed with support from a LifeSync Health provider. During appointments, teens will have opportunities to discuss what they are learning, identify useful strategies, and adjust their approach when a tool is not working. Parent or caregiver participation may be incorporated when appropriate.

How the Course Works
How the Course Will Work
1. Learn
Teens will complete age-appropriate educational lessons that explain ADHD in clear, practical language. The material will help teens understand why certain tasks may feel difficult and why strategies that work for other people may not always work for them.
2. Practice
Guided exercises and practical resources will help teens apply each concept to their own schoolwork, routines, responsibilities, environment, and goals.
3. Discuss
Teens will review what they are learning with their LifeSync Health provider. Together, they can identify helpful strategies, address obstacles, and adapt the tools to the teen’s individual circumstances.
4. Build a Toolbox
Teens will keep the strategies that support them and set aside those that do not. The goal will be to create a personalized collection of tools they can continue using as their responsibilities and needs change.

Planned Course Topics
Understanding Teen ADHD
Learn how ADHD can affect attention, motivation, time awareness, emotions, organization, school performance, and daily functioning. This section will also address common ADHD myths and the different ways symptoms can appear during adolescence.
Understanding the ADHD Brain
Explore executive functioning, motivation, decision fatigue, difficulty forming habits, and ADHD burnout. Understanding these patterns can reduce shame and help teens develop more effective strategies.
Recognizing the Hidden Effects of ADHD
ADHD can influence confidence, stress, anxiety, sleep, school, friendships, family relationships, and the way teens see themselves. This section will help separate genuine executive-function challenges from labels such as “lazy,” “careless,” “difficult,” or “unmotivated.”
Managing School and Personal Spaces
Learn how visibility, organization, distractions, clutter, and the environment can affect focus and follow-through. Teens will practice creating spaces and systems that make assignments and responsibilities easier to notice and complete.
Managing Time, Homework, and Responsibilities
Develop practical strategies for time blindness, calendars, reminders, prioritizing assignments, breaking down large projects, shifting between activities, and completing responsibilities without remaining in crisis mode.
Managing Emotions
Learn skills for recognizing emotional dysregulation, pausing before reacting, responding to rejection sensitivity, reducing overwhelm, strengthening impulse control, and practicing greater self-compassion.
Strengthening Communication and Relationships
Explore practical skills for listening, reducing interruptions, communicating needs, handling forgetfulness, resolving conflict, asking for help, and working more effectively with parents, teachers, and peers.
Building Independence
Practice taking greater ownership of routines, schoolwork, appointments, personal belongings, and everyday responsibilities. The goal is to build independence gradually without expecting teens to manage everything perfectly or all at once.
Creating a Personal ADHD Toolbox
Review the strategies practiced throughout the course and identify the tools that are most helpful. Each teen’s toolbox can evolve as school demands, responsibilities, goals, and needs change.
Why Provider Guidance Will Matter
Information alone does not always create change. Teens with ADHD may receive frequent advice about planners, schoolwork, organization, and behavior without knowing how to make those tools work consistently.
Provider guidance can help teens:
-
Select realistic starting points
-
Avoid trying to change everything at once
-
Identify barriers to using a strategy
-
Adjust tools that are not working
-
Recognize strengths and progress
-
Build accountability without shame
-
Communicate their needs more effectively
-
Connect course skills with their broader care plan
When appropriate, providers may also help parents and caregivers understand how to support progress without taking over every responsibility. This collaborative approach will make the course more than a collection of online lessons. It will provide a structured way to learn, practice, reflect, and build sustainable skills.
